Submission Guideline for JPI Academic Journal

JPI’s academic journal is a publication dedicated to showcasing scholarly research and academic discourse in the fields of politics and international relations. We invite academics, researchers, and scholars to submit their work for consideration at jpi.submission@gmail.com.

Submission Guidelines:

  1. Publication Schedule: The journal releases two issues per year, in the fall and spring.

  2. Submission Format: Essays and book reviews are accepted on a rolling basis throughout the semester.

  3. Citation Style: All submissions must follow the Chicago Style of citation. Please ensure that your work adheres to the appropriate formatting guidelines.

  4. Suitability and Editing: If you are unsure about the suitability of your work for publication or require assistance with editing or reformatting a piece from a different citation style, please feel free to reach out to us at jpi.submission@gmail.com. You may also reach out to our academic journal Editor-in-Chief, Betty Lincoln at fh754@nyu.edu. We are here to provide guidance and support throughout the process.

We accept the following things:

  • Essays: We welcome original research essays ranging from 1500 to 4000 words in length. Your work should focus on topics related to politics, international relations, and political culture/philosophy. Please ensure that your essay presents a clear and concise thesis supported by well-structured arguments. We accept papers employing quantitative, qualitative, and theoretical approaches.

  • Book Reviews: We invite book reviews ranging from 750 to 2000 words. Your review should critically analyze a non-fiction book within the realm of politics or international relations.

Review Process:

The review process for submitted works typically takes four to six weeks. After an initial assessment to ensure the submission meets the stated criteria, the piece will be reviewed by the Journal’s editorial board. Anonymity is a key aspect of our review process, ensuring unbiased evaluations. Authors’ identities are concealed from the editors, and authors are not informed of the specific board members reviewing their work.

We encourage everyone to submit their best work for consideration. The Journal of Political Inquiry is committed to promoting intellectual rigor and providing a platform for the dissemination of innovative insights and scholarly analysis. We look forward to receiving your submissions and contributing to the advancement of knowledge in the field.
